It's only about 40 miles east of Salt Lake City, but the 2 are separated by a thick band of rugged mountains and forests. To the south of Deer Valley is Wasatch Mountain State Park. It's one of the busiest state parks in Utah, but with nearly 22,000 acres, there's still plenty of space for the wildlife to roam. Keep your eyes peeled for moose, elk, and wild turkey, along with a handful of alpine wildflowers that don't grow anywhere else.
